Over the years, lots of blog posts hunt and pecked on the keyboard on the simple life moving to Maine.
It’s no secret the Maine real estate is cheaper priced. You can buy land in Maine measured in acres not feet and inches.
But Maine real estate buyers who pack up and relocate should do some soul searching first before signing a purchase and sale agreement to buy a property.
This is a big life step.
It is way more than just the attraction surrounded by nature, less crime, no traffic.
More than this time you might not even need a home mortgage.
Because your last house sale profit allows you to live free and clear in small town rural Maine.
What they don’t tell you to expect moving to Maine.

Will you be happy and content in the transition from hustle bustle big city bright lights?
The pace of living is different in small town Maine.
You don’t run to the yellow pages and have row after row of names and numbers to reach out to for help living in a small rural Maine community.
Trading it all in for a different approach to living in small town rural Maine?
It starts with you. Who are you? Your history and outlook expectations. What is important to you and what are you willing to tolerant to get it?
Some Maine real estate buyers make it all about one thing that is the end all.
Like, I don’t want any neighbors for a mile in every direction.
They are bone weary worn out leaving the constant fights with HOA’s or whoever lived next door in their old location.
But what about social interaction beyond your lots of land and not a neighbor in sight?
Why are you moving, what are your expectations of how your life will change, what will it be up in Maine?
What are you trying to accomplish in the move to Maine?
Starting over after a nasty divorce, seeking a better place for raising a small family?
Just looking for part time vacation second home location tied to a lifestyle choice?
Or you like to hunt, fish, hit the recreation trails or horse around and want some ponies?
Homesteading and living off grid self sufficiently is a big draw in the move to Maine.
Yes, working on line remotely and telecommuting to your far away job you pack up and bring with you is possible.

You don’t get everything you want but you always get what you need. Or it’s call UHaul, load up and here we go again.
I’ve helped a lot of people move to Maine and buy property.
But it does not mean some property buyers are in a habit of moving, relocating non stop every few years.
Family needs me, I miss my grandchildren is part of it.
But so is discontent, no matter where you live.
More than just a tad too many miles or hours away from my old home, where you did like parts of the location.
But slowly more and more reasons popping up to tell you it’s last call. Time to leave and move to a new location in Maine.
It is not just jokes about lighthouses, lobster, moose, Maine winter weather, exaggerations about black flies and mud season.
The personal baggage and whether your class is half full or empty follows you even up to unorganized remote locations in Maine.
How do you get along with people?
It’s not just what is it like living in Maine and that’s it.
Some folks would be happy anywhere or transition free and easy. Like to fight and wound up about life in general? Others can be their own worse problem in the search for happiness.
What’s that Eagle’s song lyric about we all don’t realize we possess the key to unlock the problems we carry in life?
Not judging, just fact or the result of past trauma, wearing a chip on your shoulder and a sour disposition or poor outlook on life in general.
So maybe more outdoor space and less people to share it with is your place to heal and improve your life.

Population is at the heart of it, not just Maine weather patterns.
You give up what a large population can support for goods and services.
You gain what a small population can provide for a closer, more intimate experience.

How would you know until you actually tried it. I’ve seen people buy quickly, move just as fast and then down the road come back.
It’s a lot like someone who goes to college, drops out, goes back later because of their own personal life experiences.
Or just lack of patience or maturity. Or their partner is happy living in Maine but the other half is not.

And sat at a kitchen table listing a house for sale in Maine where by the time the paperwork is done, three empty Budweiser cans were guzzled.
You wait, come back a day later and make sure, is this what you want to do?
Are you sober and still feeling let’s put a sign out front and start up the real estate marketing machine?
You don’t have to hate where you live now to suddenly be handstand happy about changing it up to live in small town rural Maine.
But give it time, easy does it, and maybe rural small time Maine is not the best fit for you.
